Creating a Sustainable Future: How INS LifeGuard Prioritises Social and Environmental Responsibility

INS LifeGuard • May 22, 2023

At INS LifeGuard, we believe that providing exceptional personal alarms and emergency response services goes hand in hand with being responsible stewards of our planet's resources. As a socially responsible healthcare organisation, we are deeply committed to sustainability and have made it a top priority to minimise our environmental impact while promoting eco-friendly practices and solutions across all aspects of our operations.

INS LifeGuard’s Sustainability Initiatives

INS LifeGuard's sustainability initiatives

Our sustainability drive reflects our unwavering dedication to preserving our planet for future generations while delivering the highest standards of emergency response services and highest quality of medical alarm systems. From investing in innovative EV technologies and solar energy systems to reducing paper usage and transitioning towards digital processes, we are actively taking steps to promote sustainable practices within our industry and beyond.

Meeting New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Targets

Back in 2019, we set a very ambitious target to transition 25% of our current motor vehicle fleet to be fully or hybrid electrical vehicles by 2022, with 50% transitioned by 2030.

We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully met our initial goal of transitioning 25% of our fleet, which is powered by green energy generated by our own solar energy system. This significant milestone demonstrates our steadfast commitment to being a socially responsible healthcare organisation.

Our progress doesn't stop here. As of 2023, we are well on our way to achieving our ambitious target of a 50% transition by 2030. With each step we take towards this goal, we are reducing our carbon footprint and contributing to a greener, more sustainable future for our clients and the communities we serve.

Revolutionising Our Energy Usage with Solar

As an Emergency Response Service Provider that offers a 24/7 nurse on-call service (including a welfare check service), INS requires uninterrupted, reliable and high-quality power. The energy consumption at our 24/7 Emergency Response Centre and headquarters is substantial due to the continuous nature of our operations.

In order to minimise our environmental impact, we’ve made a significant investment in the installation of a high-capacity solar energy system at our headquarters. This system is designed to generate a significant portion of the power we require to operate our facility. As a result, we are now generating most of our own electricity, significantly reducing our reliance on traditional energy sources.

Moreover, this investment makes good business sense by reducing our operational costs and improving our energy efficiency. The solar energy system is built to last and requires minimal maintenance, providing us with a reliable source of power for years to come.

INS also has battery backup capacity storing energy for use during grid outages. In addition to this safeguard, INS headquarters also has a hospital grade, automated generator in the event of a sudden prolonged power outage.

Driving Towards a Paperless Future

transition to digital

As part of our ongoing effort to minimise our environmental impact, we have also taken steps to reduce the volume of paper waste generated by our organisation. Paper waste, as we all know but sometimes forget, contributes to deforestation, air pollution, and other environmental degradation.

Historically, like most other healthcare organisations, our process of collecting client information and documentation has resulted in a significant amount of paper waste. However, our implementation of an electronic data collection policy enabled us to significantly reduce our reliance on paper.

This streamlined approach not only reduces paper waste but also provides added convenience for our clients, their families, and carers who can now update their information electronically via our web portals or mobile apps.

In addition to digitising our processes for managing client data, we have also extended our digital transformation efforts to include the digitisation of village protocols. This new approach allowed us to cut down or greatly reduce paper usage and streamline our operations without compromising on the quality of care for village residents.

Takeaway

INS LifeGuard is actively taking steps to be more sustainable. Our commitment to meeting NEV targets, using solar energy, and shifting to digitisation showcases our dedication to the environment that we take very seriously. We understand that our responsibility as a company goes beyond providing products and services. That's why we pour so much into the sustainability of our operations. On a larger scale, this helps us contribute towards having a positive impact on the community. By championing these kinds of initiatives, we are safeguarding future generations from feeling the brunt of this global challenge.
