Welfare Check Service by INS LifeGuard

INS LifeGuard • Feb 09, 2023

We all know how tough it can be to care for someone who is vulnerable and on their own. The worry of whether they are safe and well can cause anxiety and can even lead to sleepless nights.

Thankfully, INS LifeGuard has come up with an innovative solution to address this problem — a convenient and flexible welfare check service.

What is a welfare check in Australia?

In Australia, police officers or social service workers are normally sent to check on the welfare of someone who is thought to be in danger or at risk. This type of intervention is known as a welfare check.

In comparison the INS LifeGuard's welfare check service focuses on preventative care and provides support to not only those living independently but reassurance to family and friends by providing regular checks on the health and wellbeing of those they care for.

What justifies a welfare check?

Welfare checks are often conducted when someone hasn't been seen or heard from in a while, when there are signs of distress, or when their living conditions appear to be unsafe.

A welfare check is also an appropriate response when a person is experiencing a mental health crisis or has recently been discharged from the hospital.

At INS LifeGuard, welfare checks can be arranged to be conducted on a regular basis to ensure that all is well with the person you are concerned about. The checks can be done either by one of our qualified nurses or by a family member or carer.

Nurse Welfare Check Services

Our nurse welfare check service is a great way to put your mind at ease, as it allows a qualified medical professional to check on the wellbeing of someone you care for and send medical assistance if necessary.

For only a small fee, our nurses can check in on the person via voice call, assess their health and safety, and report any concerns to you.

If our nurses don't receive an answer or can't establish verbal contact, they will send someone to the person's home to do a welfare check.

Family and Carer Welfare Check Services

We understand the importance of being able to check in on those you care for. That is why we have rolled out a new feature that allows family members and carers to conduct their own welfare check via a notification on the recipient's LifeGuard SmartMobile App or a pop-up on the SmartHome IP Dialler.

The frequency and timing of the welfare check can be set by the family or carer using the free LifeGuard SmartCarer App or the LifeGuard Client Portal.

The recipient can then acknowledge the check-in by tapping the pop-up or notification on their device to confirm they are safe and well.

If the recipient doesn't acknowledge the check-in, the family member/carer can contact the recipient via phone call to check whether everything's ok or not. And if the recipient doesn't answer, the family member/carer can either check-in on the recipient themselves or have someone else do a wellness check.

Who is this service ideal for?

Anyone who is vulnerable and living alone, including people with disabilities, seniors, and those working in remote areas without any supervision, can all benefit from the welfare check service offered by INS LifeGuard.

Elderly Persons

The safe and wellness checks provided by INS LifeGuard are ideal for elderly seniors living alone. It allows our nurses or their family or carers to check-in and ensure their safety and wellbeing without having to contact them directly and intrude on their day-to-day lives.

People with Disabilities or Health Problems

Our service is also beneficial for people with disabilities or health conditions who may require ongoing monitoring and support. The regular checks will ensure that the person is safe and their needs are being met.

Lone Workers

Lone workers are required to carry out work activities without the direct and immediate support of supervisors or colleagues. Our welfare check services are designed to provide peace of mind for at-risk lone workers and their families, ensuring their safety against any risk and making support easily accessible.

How much does a welfare check cost?

At INS LifeGuard, we believe that everyone should be able to access preventative and connected care services without having to spend a fortune. That is why our welfare check service is available for free to families and carers who are up to the task of doing the checks themselves.

If you want one of our nurses to conduct a welfare check on your behalf, you only have to pay a small fee each month.

To be able to use the welfare check service, you need our innovative personal alarms: the LifeGuard SmartMobile App or the SmartHome IP Dialler.

Ensure the safety of your loved ones with INS LifeGuard

Welfare checks are an important way to ensure that all is well with our loved ones, especially during times when life gets too busy and we can't be around that much.

With INS LifeGuard's welfare check service, you can rest assured that the person you care for is never without help.

Whether you choose to have our nurses look in on them or you prefer to do the checks yourself, we can help you ensure their health and safety.
