Knowledge Base | INS LifeGuard

INS LifeGuard is the only nurse-led emergency response provider where alarms are answered by nurses and other medical professionals. ## Why choose INS LifeGuard? Choosing a personal or medical alarm can feel overwhelming, with a lot of new information to take in. It is a valid question asked by thousands of people every year, and the answer is simple. Unlike all of the other providers across Australia, INS LifeGuard is the only nurse-led emergency response provider where our alarms are answered by **nurses** and other **medical professionals**. Across the industry the standard has been to hire security guards, school-leavers or first aid attendants. ## Why does it matter who answers my alarm? Let us ask you a different question. If your loved one is having a heart attack and needs urgent help, who would you rather help them and handle their alarm? Dave with his first aid certificate, or Shelly the Registered Nurse? How many times have we heard of someone who had been having chest pains for hours and didn't tell anyone? They didn't realise it was serious and didn't want to be a bother. INS LifeGuard wants to be bothered. We would much prefer to deal with a situation early, before it becomes an emergency. In fact, INS has often been able to avoid serious medical events by having our nurses triage the situation and offer medical advice and assistance before it became critical. ## Does a nurse-led alarm cost more? No. INS LifeGuard is often at a similar cost, or even lower, than many of the other monitored personal and medical alarm providers across Australia. ## Does INS LifeGuard meet Australian Standards? INS exceeds Australian Standards for medical monitoring. We work under the higher standards required and expected of us as registered healthcare professionals. When you press the help button of an INS personal alarm, you're talking to nurses and other qualified healthcare professionals. **Real Nurses. Real Care. Always There.**
