Knowledge Base | INS LifeGuard

Your in-home alarm keeps working in a power outage. INS LifeGuard in-home alarms have a backup battery that powers your alarm for 38+ hours when fully charged. ## How do in-home alarms keep their battery charged? In-home personal alarms provided by INS LifeGuard comply with Australian Standard AS 4607. While connected to mains power, your alarm keeps charging and runs battery cycles to keep the battery working well and at an optimal level. ## Should I keep my alarm plugged in? Yes. These alarms are designed to stay plugged in and charge constantly. INS recommends keeping the unit plugged in at all times, so the battery is always fully charged and your alarm is ready if there is a power outage. ## What about mobile alarms? Mobile personal alarms from INS LifeGuard vary in battery length. They are designed for use when you're out and about, not connected to mains power. ## What if my battery isn't lasting as long as it should? Call INS LifeGuard on [1800 636 226](tel:1800636226). We can investigate and check whether any issues are also showing on our end.
