Jump to: Village Notifications | Client Notifications | Device Compatibility | Setting Up Staff Notifications | Concierge Services | FAQ ## This guide covers sending and tracking notifications through the LifeGuard Manager's Portal, and the Concierge Services feature. ### [Village Notifications](ANCHOR: Village Notifications) A record of notifications INS has sent to your village, when, and to whom. Filter by type (e.g. Emergency). ### [Client Notifications](ANCHOR: Client Notifications) What your village sends to residents. The announcement can be read aloud and is sent to the resident's base unit, the LifeGuardian app will also receive it. Give each notification a clear title so it's easy to identify, notifications are only read aloud once, so residents who are out and about may miss them. Sending notifications this way is free, at no cost to the village or the resident receiving it. ### [Device compatibility for notifications and evacuation alerts](ANCHOR: Device Compatibility) Not every device supports every notification type, delivery is best effort and can be affected by factors like third-party networks beyond our control. #### Regular notifications (display on screen / read aloud): - SmartHome IPD: displays on screen and reads aloud (read-aloud messages are limited to 196 characters, longer messages are truncated when read aloud but shown in full on screen) - SmartHome LGX: reads aloud only (limited to 106 characters) - INS LifeGuardian® App: displays only, cannot read aloud - LifeGuard SmartTracker, SafetyWatch, L-401/RV, SmartLink Medi-Guardian MKII, SmartLink Under Dialler, Chiptech EVE, Chiptech SEVEN/LE, SmartCaller H-Series: not currently supported #### Evacuation alerts (custom message / pre-defined message): - SmartHome IPD and SmartHome LGX: support both custom and pre-defined read-aloud messages - INS LifeGuardian® App: can receive notifications, but evacuation alerts specifically aren't yet available (in development) - All other devices listed above: not currently supported ### [Setting up notifications for village management and staff](ANCHOR: Setting Up Staff Notifications) This covers notifications sent by our nurses after emergency or maintenance events, as well as automated notifications based on device status (Power Fail, Low Battery, Missed Check-In). If you don't yet have Portal access, [email us](mailto:lifeguard@theinsgroup.com.au) (or have your village manager do so) and we'll set it up. #### Who can configure notification settings: - Super User: yes, for all sites they manage - Village Manager: yes, for their assigned village - Village Staff: no - Village Maintenance: no (view-only access to device status) Contact INS if you'd like your team's access levels adjusted. #### How to set up notifications: 1. Click the Village button, on the home screen or in the sidebar. 2. Check your time zone is set. If none is shown, click Edit, choose your time zone from the dropdown, and click Save, you need this set before you can create any notifications. 3. Click the Contacts tab. The contacts INS has on file for your village are shown here. Add a new contact with the Add Contact button, or remove one with the trash icon. 4. Click the pencil icon to edit the contact you want to set notifications for, and check their details are correct. 5. Click Add Notification, then choose the notification type from the dropdown: Device status types (Power Fail, Low Battery, Missed Check-In) are system-generated as events come through our central monitoring system. Emergency and Maintenance notifications are sent by our operators after an alarm, giving context on what happened and what action was taken (note: for emergencies, we may only be able to share basic details, depending on resident permission). 6. Under Notify Via, choose Email or SMS. 7. Leave the From/To time fields blank to receive notifications at any time, or specify particular hours. 8. To receive the same notification type by both email and SMS, add another notification of the same type and choose the other method. 9. Repeat for as many notification types as you want on this contact, then click Save. 10. An information icon appears next to that contact's phone number or email once notifications are set, hover over it to see exactly which types are active. 11. Repeat this process for any other contacts (e.g. your maintenance supervisor, set to receive Maintenance notifications by SMS at any time). #### Best practices: - Use SMS for urgent alerts, email for informational ones - Adjust notification schedules for on-call or overnight staff - Review your recipient lists regularly to make sure coverage is current - Test and review device alerts monthly - Include alert reviews in staff handovers or morning meetings ### [Concierge Services](ANCHOR: Concierge Services) A chargeable service covering trades or services your village is happy to recommend to residents. INS can provide those details or book on the resident's behalf, or your village can nominate its own preferred providers. ## FAQ Q: Can I set which staff member gets notified about what? A: Yes, under Village > Contacts, each contact can be set to receive specific notification types (Emergency, Maintenance, Device Related, or the automatic low battery/missed check-in/power fail alerts) by email and/or SMS, and limited to a set time window. ## Still need help?
