Jump to: Apple Watch Setup | Galaxy Watch Setup | Testing | Unpairing & Returning | Legacy SmartWatch (V2) ## This guide covers setting up, testing, unpairing, and returning your INS LifeGuardian® Watch, an Apple or Samsung Galaxy smartwatch supplied and set up by INS LifeGuard, connected to our 24/7 nurse-monitored response. ### [Setting up on Apple Watch](ANCHOR: Apple Watch Setup) **What you need:** an Apple Watch Series 11 with watchOS 26 or later, and an iPhone 11 or later with iOS 26 or later. 1. Make sure your iPhone is on the latest iOS (Settings > General > Software Update), and that Bluetooth is on and connected to Wi-Fi or cellular. 2. Install INS LifeGuardian® on your iPhone by scanning the QR code or searching the App Store, then open it, follow the prompts, enter your mobile number, verify with the 6-digit code sent to you, and log in or create your account. If multiple people share a file, make sure the correct person is selected. 3. Turn on your Apple Watch (hold the side button until the Apple logo appears), hold your iPhone near it, and tap Continue on the pairing screen, or open the Apple Watch app and tap Pair New Watch, then Set Up for Myself. 4. Follow the on-screen setup: sign in to your Apple Account, create a passcode, and customise text size and health notification settings (you can change these later). 5. Activate cellular service during setup if you can, this lets your Apple Watch work away from your phone, useful for getting help even if you've left your phone at home. Cellular is currently only available with Telstra, Optus, or Vodafone. 6. Keep both devices close while they sync. Once complete, you'll see a Subscription popup, if INS LifeGuardian® is funded on your behalf, close it; if you're paying out of pocket, subscribe here for a free trial. ### [Setting up on Galaxy Watch](ANCHOR: Galaxy Watch Setup) **What you need:** a Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, a phone with Android 11 or later, and the Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Health, and Health Connect apps installed. 1. Make sure your phone is on the latest Android version (Settings > System > Software Update), and that Bluetooth is on and connected to Wi-Fi or cellular. 2. Install INS LifeGuardian® on your phone by scanning the QR code or searching the Play Store, then open it, follow the prompts, enter your mobile number, verify with the 6-digit code, and log in or create your account. If multiple people share a file, make sure the correct person is selected. 3. Install Samsung Health and Health Connect from the Play Store if you don't already have them, and follow their on-screen setup (Samsung Health requires a Samsung Account). 4. Install Galaxy Wearable, then turn on your Galaxy Watch (hold the side button until the Samsung logo appears), open Galaxy Wearable, tap Start, select your watch, and follow the prompts to complete pairing. 5. Activate cellular service during setup if you can, currently only available with Telstra, Optus, or Vodafone. 6. Connect Health Connect and Samsung Health: open Samsung Health, go to My Page > More > Settings > Health Connect, select app permissions, find Samsung Health, and allow it to write all data. This lets INS LifeGuardian® read your health data so our nurses can monitor it. ### [Testing your alarm](ANCHOR: Testing) We recommend testing your alarm once a month, ideally on a day you'll remember, like the date of your birthday. Press and hold the SOS button on your INS LifeGuardian® Watch. When the nurse responds, let them know you're testing. ### What should happen next After a successful test, you'll hear the Watch confirm the alarm and a nurse will speak with you. ### [Unpairing and returning your Watch](ANCHOR: Unpairing & Returning) Your INS LifeGuardian® Watch is provided on a lease term and must be returned if your monitoring service is no longer required, if not returned within 30 days of cancellation, fees apply. The watch must be unpaired and unlinked from your account first, including removing Activation Lock, or fees may apply (up to the full replacement/recovery cost). #### Apple Watch Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap My Watch > All Watches, tap the "i" next to the watch, tap Unpair Apple Watch, then confirm. This erases the watch from your iCloud account and removes Activation Lock. #### Galaxy Watch Open Galaxy Wearable, tap Watch Settings > General > Reset, then Reset again to confirm. #### Returning it Send the watch in its original packaging if possible, protected in a padded bag or carton, with a note including your name. **Post to:** INS LifeGuard, PO Box 485, Unanderra NSW 2526. ### [Legacy: LifeGuard SmartWatch (V2)](ANCHOR: Legacy SmartWatch (V2)) This product is no longer available from INS LifeGuard, it's been superseded by the LifeGuard SafetyWatch. If you still have a SmartWatch V2, see the SmartWatch User Guide for setup and use. ***Warning for pacemaker users: radiofrequency energy from mobile devices, including mobile alarms, may interfere with pacemakers. Avoid placing or wearing the device next to your pacemaker, hold it to the ear opposite your pacemaker's side, and keep it at least 15cm away from your pacemaker at all times.*** ## Still need help?
