Avoid damp locations like bathrooms, or spots near heat sources like ovens or stovetops. ### Installing your SmartHome LGX 1. Remove the LGX and power supply from the box and place it in your chosen location. 2. If the SIM isn't already installed, insert it into the SIM card base at the back of the unit, notch first, gold chip side facing up. 3. Plug the power supply into a power point, then into the DC Jack, and switch the black battery switch to the right to power the unit on. 4. If supplied, screw the antenna into the back of the unit and swivel it to point straight up. 5. Make sure the Battery Switch is set to ON (slid right), if it's OFF, the backup battery won't charge or work during a power outage. 6. Your pendant or wrist transmitter should already be pre-configured. Test it by pressing the button, then walk around different rooms and test again to check for any signal limitations. 7. The system will announce the alarm's been received. Wait for an INS operator to call back through the unit's loudspeaker, and clearly state your name and that you're testing. 8. Once tested successfully, test daily for the first week, then monthly after that, we recommend testing on the date of your birthday each month so it's easy to remember. ### [Testing your alarm going forward](ANCHOR: Testing) Press the button on your wrist or pendant transmitter. This tests both the transmitter and the base unit together. When the nurse responds, let them know you're testing. ### [Compatible transmitters and accessories](ANCHOR: Compatible Devices) Anything that works with the SmartHome IPD also works with the LGX: - Standard Transmitter (LWNTX): worn as a pendant or on the wrist, waterproof, can be worn in the shower - Fall Sensor (LWNFS): raises an inactivity alarm if no movement is detected within 10 seconds of a fall - Fixed Wireless Call Point (L-Series): useful in bathrooms or outdoor patios, no wiring needed - Smoke Detector, Wireless (10yr lithium battery) - Smoke Detector, 240V (requires licensed electrician installation) - Smoke Detector Indoor Strobe Light: for hearing-impaired residents, flashes when linked to a 240V smoke detector ### [Adding or programming additional devices](ANCHOR: Adding Devices) Anything supplied with your LGX is already programmed. To add a new device later, using the button on the back of the unit: 1. In idle mode (blue backlight around the HELP button), press and hold the Learn button for 3 seconds until you hear the second beep, then release. 2. The HELP button's backlight turns purple and flashes, confirming learning mode. 3. Press the button on the device you're pairing, the LGX beeps to confirm. 4. Press and hold the Learn button for 3 seconds again to exit (or it exits automatically after 5 minutes). 5. To delete a device, hold the Learn button for 10 seconds to clear everything, then relearn the devices you want to keep. Before mounting a new call point or smoke detector, run a Walk Test: enter Learning Mode, move the device to different locations, and press its test button, if the LGX beeps back, it's within range. ### What should happen next After a successful test, you'll hear the LGX confirm the alarm and a nurse will speak with you through the loudspeaker. ### [Troubleshooting](ANCHOR: Troubleshooting) **Video troubleshooting:** Check the Power, Check Network Connectivity, and Reset the System. [VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/embed/5oCLbWBxrwM | Check the Power] [VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/embed/9ROvjrP2vuE | Check Network Connectivity] [VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/embed/wxILzAP1vj0 | Reset the System] If these don't resolve the issue, contact INS LifeGuard's Technical Support Team on [1800 636 226](tel:1800636226), or email [lifeguard@theinsgroup.com.au](mailto:lifeguard@theinsgroup.com.au). #### Understanding the lights: - Power LED (green): solid = powered on normally, flashing = running on battery, off = no power - Fault LED (orange): solid = system fault, flashing = low battery, network/GSM issue, device fault, or accessory fault - Signal/battery bars: white = mobile signal strength, orange = battery level during a power failure, more bars = stronger/higher - HELP button backlight: light blue = ready, green = call in progress (clears after ~10 minutes), red = alarm active, purple = programming mode, yellow = inactivity timer active or expired - Contact INS LifeGuard on [1800 636 226](tel:1800636226) if you see a persistent orange fault light, no signal bars, or frequent battery warnings #### During a power failure: The unit switches to its internal battery, flashes the green LED, and announces "Power failure, check power cord." Battery runtime is typically 38+ hours on a full charge. When power returns, you'll hear "Power restored" and the battery recharges automatically. At around 20% battery remaining, expect a flashing orange fault light, possible voice prompts, and a warning sent to INS LifeGuard. Make sure the battery switch next to the power cord is ON, or the battery won't charge at all. ## FAQ Q: Does the LGX meet Australian Standards? A: Yes. The INS LifeGuard SmartHome LGX Dialler has been tested and certified to comply with AS 4607:1999, ensuring it meets Australian safety and quality standards. ## Still need help?
