LifeGuard SmartHome IPD and LGX peripheral transmitter devices, such as pendants, call points, and smoke detectors are compatible with both devices. Options, features and hardware configurations are subject to change without notice and at the sole discretion of INS.

Frequently Asked Questions



  • How do LifeGuard’s personal alarms for providers work?

    1. If there’s an emergency, your client can simply press the button on their LifeGuard SmartHome LGX, SmartLink Medi Guardian or mobile alarm to send an alert. We can also provide a Fall Sensor that automatically activates an alarm when a fall is detected, even if your client can’t physically press the button.
    2. The alert will be received by one of our qualified nurses in our 24/7 emergency response centre. The nurse will communicate with your client using the two-way speaker on their emergency device. Your client can and will be heard even if they’re not near the device.
    3. The nurse, who has access to your client’s personal details and medical history, will assess the situation and take the appropriate action. This may include contacting a relative or friend, sending emergency services to your client’s location, or simply providing reassurance and support.
    4. In the event that your client cannot be reached or does not respond via voice, our nurse will arrange for an ambulance to go to your client’s location. Whatever the situation may be, rest assured help is on the way.

    * The INS LifeGuard has no control over network coverage or voice quality, which is dependent on local environmental conditions. If your client cannot hear us over the alarm system, you can rest assured that we have received the alarm and will send help to their location immediately.

  • What other services are included?

    Free Nurse Chat and Health Info Line

    INS LifeGuard has a FREE Nurse Chat and Health Info Line that your client can access when they are feeling lonely and need someone to talk to. They may also contact INS LifeGuard at any time for assistance or information. Upon request, our nurses can connect with their primary care physician or other healthcare professionals.


    Welfare Checks

    On behalf of providers, we can conduct welfare checks following hospital discharge as well as upon request.

    If your client downloads the LifeGuard SmartMobile app, they’ll have access to more services as part of the INS LifeGuard Ecosystem, which includes TeleHealth services and the LifeGuard SmartCarers app. And for a low monthly monitoring fee, they can transform their compatible phone into a mobile alarm.

    When it comes to monitoring the results of your clients, you have two options: use the Free TeleHealth Service and monitor the results on your own, or subscribe to our Professional TeleHealth Service and have the results reviewed by a qualified nurse from INS LifeGuard.

    As a provider, your staff can use the LifeGuard SmartCarer app to conveniently monitor the health status and whereabouts of your clients. They can also view or edit personal information, set alarms, and receive alerts when something unusual occurs. iOS version requires iOS 13 or higher..
